Ronan swallowed down the last of the fizzy drink. He'd need more than this to quiet the raising storm making his head pound, he tightened his hold on Grace's hand. Oh, did she not know yet? He absolutely hated these events. Anything to do with stuck-up, fake posers in suits and glittering even faker smiles. He grit his teeth but kept his expression carefully set. His eyes focused on the door, a giant of a security personnel stodd sentry. He slipped out, acting as casual as he could, no one needed to worry about him. He'd practiced this one too many times.

He lead Grace through the doors and averted his gaze from the masses of people that were gathering. Of course they couldn't avoid other business parties the entire night but he wasn't about to mingle in. Not yet. The Takahashi's were here too, how fine. He was sure they'd fish him out from the crowd. So to keep a safe distance, Ronan steered Grace away from the collection of business associates and searches for wherever the food tables were. ❝Just say the word and we're out of here.❞ He whispered.

Grace slipped out of the car carefully and she held onto Ronan's hand as he lead her inside. Glancing around as soon as they were through the doors she took note of all of the people milling around chatting here and there with some while others seemed to enjoy the company of a sole few. Letting him move her away from the people whom she could only assume he didn't want to interact with at this point.

Looking up at him Grace squeezed his hand gently with a soft smile "Maybe you're the one who needs to say the word for when we should leave" she teased him gently in a whisper. She could tell he was uncomfortable but she herself had never liked the limelight that tended to come about when one attended these kinds of functions.

She had a point. Had it not been for Natalie, he'd still be home. He squeezed Grace's hand then steered her to the refreshments table, reached for a dish, ❝I'll keep that in mind.❞ He whispered before leaning in to add, ❝By the way you're stunning in that dress, and I'm not the only one who noticed.❞ They'd garnered stares since he'd been known as a 'bachelor' and certain individuals struggled with the concept of him finally tyng the knot. Yes it was sudden with someone he'd never been seen with—and it could also raise some rumors. But thst was the least of his concerns. Imagine just how many were on the sidelines waiting for their fall. What a spectacle that'd be for the press. Again, vultures.

Ronan picked up a stem glass and held it out for Grace to accept, might as well play his part. He wouldn't give them anymore to tell.

Grace smiled and gave a soft laugh when he said that he would keep it in mind, when he said she was stunning in her dress she gave a sweet smile and ducked her head a little as she blushed softly. She had never been told before that she looked good in anything and it felt nice having Ronan say it to her. Glancing around a little she could see that the women who were there were looking at her with contempt and some of the men were looking at her lustfully.

When he held the glass out to her Grace took it gently from his hand "Thank you" she said gently as she raised the glass to her lips and sipped from it as she took note that Natalie was mingling among the crowd and seemed to be working it well.

Whispers and murmurs buzzed along soft, classical music. Ronan piled cheese and meat toppings with crackers on his plate. His jaw hurt. So did his back. Why couldn't they quit staring?

Farther away, Natalie's casual laughter filtered through. He glanced at Grace, she seemed way calmer than expected.

Grace had learnt from a young age that she was to always look interested whilst at these events and that she was just to be a pretty face and not utter a word. Even though she looked calm and relaxed there was a buzz under her skin making her tap her fingers nervously against the stem of the glass in her hands. That was the only sign that Grace was uncomfortable.

Natalie made her way over to Ronan and Grace and she smiled at the two of them "Some of the guests wish to speak business with you" she said grabbing a glass of wine and sipped it "And don't worry about the Takahashi's I've manged to sate their hunger for your head on a plate" Natalie quipped with a playful smirk.

Business chatter. He could handle that. Who were the party of interest and was this going to derail into gossip? Again his eyes strayed back to Grace, then on Natalie. He could always count on her to smooth things over. ❝Let's get this over with.❞ He didn't hide his irritation, how could he? If the Norman daughters through one more nasty look at Grace he swore he'd... Do what? If he kept this up he'd have to fire every single employee.

Opinionated people. They talk way too much. Why was he still here? He glared at Natalie. The question hung in the tense silence between them. She had to quit doing this.

Natalie raised a brow at Ronan "Don't give me that look, I am doing my job now you need to do yours and make small talk with potential business partners. I'll take care of the Norman daughters since they both have a crush on you. So, I am going to take your gorgeous wife with me and introduce you all" she said with a shake of her head before she swayed away after linking an arm with Grace and pulled her along with her to talk to the girls.

Grace looked momentarily startled as Natalie dragged her away and she shot a confused look over her shoulder to Ronan before she looked at the two women who seemed to take issue with Ronan no longer being single. Putting on a sweet smile Grace managed to chat with the two women somehow placating their anger towards her for stealing the most eligible man around.

Natalie left Grace with the two women and made her way back over to Ronan and she linked one of her arms with his "Come on, lets get these business chats over and then I can sneak you and Grace out of here so the two of you can go home and I don't know, work on making cute babies" she said cheekily.

Guess she didn't trust him to dive into things since she was quick to return and shove him into a the damn fray. He hated this part of the job but all he can do now is cast an easy smile and bullshit his way to partnering up with bootlickers and assholes in monkey suits. Great. And that's exactly what he did. An expert at laying the cards out and tuning his decadent song to every listening ear, he'd fill their minds with honey and promise of fortunes, who can resist him? Or question his flawless track record?

And yet, with every "partner" he's taken into the ship, it leaves a sour taste. But he'll watch the numbers and trust in the books, the people that work under him, the overall turn of things and only from there he'll see how it all lays out.

Ain't there a risk in everything? As in life, in business.

It'll be alright, if anything, Natalie will make it up to him, he'll sneak away from the sharks and take off into the night with a saving "Grace." Win-win?
