The Green Dragon (Derek and Gin RP)

Ashe nodded and seasoned the fish to perfection so that it didn't taste like fish, but didn't taste like lemon and spices either. She began to cook the fish over a fire, flipping them and tossing them on a huge plate in the center of the room, not missing a single one. By the time Yaya came back the food was decorated and ready to be served.

"Looks good." She said with a smile. "Now then, time for you to try the surprise." The woman grinned, holding out a spoon of something white.

A small amount of steam rose off the odd white substance. "We keep the cream frozen so it'll keep." yaya said. "But if you add some salt and sugar- then whip it-- you get this." She grinned. "Go on, take it! Before it melts all over the place."

Ashe tested it gingerly and smiled. "Thank you." She finished up the finishing touches on the rest of dinner with a glazed over happy look in her eyes. "What is that heavenly stuff?" She asked, "Is that...icing?"

"Ice-cream." Yaya corrected with a smirk. "Derek said no cake for the boy. 'e didn't say nothin' sweet, now did 'e?" She spun the spoon like a gunslinger, clearly pleased with the loop hole she had found.

Ashe smiled as she looked to Joey,"Told you it wouldn't be so bad. Dinner is ready though. Shall we ring the bell?" She then looked to Joseph and looked as though she suddenly remembered something. She pulled a compact looking flute out of her pouch and said, "Here, Happy birthday." She held it out to him.

Joey smiled, still stirring the Bwenhoho as she held out the flute. "Thank you!" he smiled, hugging her around the waist. "You and yaya are the best!"

Yaya simply 'hm'ed as she picked up the tray of fish. The woman had a beasts strength. "Come on then, let's set up for supper."

"Yes ma'am." They both said. Ashe helped bring plates and cups to the table, and then helped push the drinks to the dining hall. Once it was all set up, Ashe was allowed to ring the bell for supper, which she did enthusiastically.

The men came down to dinner, all more than happy it seemed. Judging by how wet most of them were, it must have begun to rain up on deck.

Derek was among them, taking the same seat he had the night before. The Captain, however, was notably absent.

"I'll being out the icecream when the main course is done." yaya told Ashe. "Right now, I need you to come get the doors for me while I bring the Captain his food. Then you're free to eat yourself."

"Yes ma'am, would you like me to take it instead? You deserve a break." She said with a happy smile as she moved to assist the kindred spirit.

Yaya shook her head. 'No, if the captain's not here for supper there be a reason. No need getting him upset having you see him. I just need the doors opened." She said, headed up the steps, away from the Galley.

She waited here and there for Ashe to get the doors for her, pausing outside of the Captains quarters. "Knock first." yaya warned.

Ashe nodded and knocked clearly and loudly, waiting for a response. When she got one, she opened the door for Yaya, careful not to be seen and closed it behind her.

Yaya slipped into the room with a slight nod of thanks. A few moments later yaya came back out. "Alright then, down to the Galley with you. Get some food." She ordered sternly.

Ashe noted the look on Yaya's face, but nodded none-the-less. She went to the galley, sat in her same seat and nibbled her food, not really having much of an appetite. Something was wrong, maybe it had something to do with the lost cargo the crew had spoken of earlier....

Yaya made it down to the galley and set out the icecream, just as a small bell rattled, calling for her back to the Captains office.

"I'll handle him." Derek assured the woman, placing a heavy hand on her shoulders. He smiled. "You stay and eat for a change."

Yaya hesitated, though nodded, settling back into her seat.


"Is Jin not feeling good again?" Joseph blinked, still working on finishing his peas before yaya would permit him to have the desert.

" 'e is." Yaya confirmed. "Nothin worse than usual though. Finish eatin."

Ashe finished up her meal and whispered to Yaya, "He's not really sick is he? He's upset about something....something deep." She said. She caught Joey slip a few peas onto her plate without Yaya noticing and winked at him, eating them, she loved peas.

Yaya frowned grimly, shaking her head. "No, child." She sighed. "He be sick." she kept her voice down. "Come with me to the kitchen, I'll explain."

Ashe followed, taking all the empty plates as she went, Yaya to the kitchen. She waited patiently for the explanation.

"See, magic is fickle." Yaya said as she filled the sink with water to wash with. "The more you use, the more it takes from you. Everyone's born with a lil bit of magic in um, enough to do mundane chores-- like chill food or start a stove fire and the like..." She began to scrubb as she thought. "But derek and Jin, they be members of the Order. They do magic as their living, ya see? When you do that, you give up something in return. Derek's given up his capacity to feel love. Jin, well, Jin gave up his health."

Ashe, "...." She looked, well one couldn't really place the look on her face. "Health can be gotten back, and nourished. As for love can be learned if not felt." She muttered, but nodded to Yaya, "Is that why everyone on the ship is so close?"

Yaya looked confused. "What do you mean is that why we're close?" She asked. "Derek can't love intimately. Sure, he feels affection, but he will be alone forever. As for Jin, health can only be regained so much. Here's hopin when he makes a pact with a beast of power he'll start feelin better."

Kana nodded, "Never mind. " She said with a smile. She kind of spaced out, until she was tackled by Wyntir. "hey, where have you been trouble maker?" He simply chirped and nuzzled into her chest. "Perv." She teased, "Well thank you ma'am. " She said as she began doing dishes.

Yaya watched her for a moment before grinning. "Want me to teach ya how to use your innate magic?" she quipped after a few minutes of silence.

Ashe nearly dropped the dish she had been holding. "Would you, could you?" She looked like she was about to explode with excitement."

Yaya laughed. "I'm no Grand Master, but I've mothered enough I can show you a thing or two." She confirmed with a smile. "We'll practice in the mornings, after breakfast hour."

"THANK YOU>" SHe hugged the woman in her excitement, "Sorry, I'm too easily excited. When does the sparring happen?" She asked.
