Shall wє bє promisєd an єtєrnal rєst?

Wet. Cold. Dreary. Those are three words that describe the type of day I despise most. Today happened to be one of those days, and I cursed the Goddess for allowing such uninviting weather. I was forced to take shelter somewhere or I was sure to melt. But where to go?

It was late, long after any closing times of the shops that laid scattered on the streetsides, and any vendors had already locked up their carts and headed home. I gazed around at my surroundings, standing under one of the overhangs across the street from an old, abandoned antique shop. My amber eyes halted on the only source of energy lighting up the dim road; a lantern from a church.

I am not one who usually finds themselves within the sanctuary of a church. I had lost my faith in the Goddess long ago, back when my life was transformed into the dark, dizzy dream state it was now. I was not of religious character, and I never again would be.

Still, it was the only shelter from the wretched raindrops, so I hurried across the street and toward the dimly lit lantern, racing up the steps to escape the freezing droplets. I paused at the massive front doors, gazing at the intracately designed pattern that were carved into the doorhandles before pushing them open.

I was immediately greeted with a warm rush of air, followed by the low murmurs of people that had taken shelter from the weather as well. It was brightly lit in there, especially in contrast to the outside, and I squinted a bit at the change of lighting as my eyes adjusted. I came to notice a few homeless sitting a few rows before the altar toward the front of the church, a priest making his rounds and kindly making conversation with people he passed by, and one lone man sitting in the far right hand corner of the church.

My eyes immediately rested on him. There was something alluring about him, and whether it was the dark power I sensed from him or the calming aura about him that caused it, I wasn't so sure. I took a seat a few rows away from him, watching, waiting, though for what I wasn't so sure either. I just remained silent, even as the priest eyed me strangely as I sat brooding on one of the bleachers.

((Kayleeh Rose is a vampire, so preferrably the male character I am looking for will be a vampire too. Demons are welcome as well, if you'd rather, but humans are off limits. Unless, of course, you are playing one of the homeless in the church for the time being. Anyone can join, but no one-liners! At least two paragraphs please, if not more! ^^ Also, may be mature for blood, violence, profanity and sexual content down the road.))

I sat in silence, praying that the Goddess would stop this infernal rain. I hate rain, it messes with my suit and makes me smell funny. before this started the night was going just swimmingly. had gotten ready and was just heading down to The Cathouse nightclub. that place was always filled with gorgeous gothic girls, and that's what I was in the mood for tonight. Plus no-one ever asked questions about the pale guy in the strange clothes there, he fit right in. That and the fact that the bartender knew him well enough to give him a few drinks on the house. Free stuff is always nice, even when you have the money to pay for it.

I looked up at the altar of the church, hoping The Goddess could hear me. Of course i still believe in the Goddess, who else could've given me such a wonderful gift? I still thank her every night when I awake for what she has granted me for almost 200 years now. What could be better than never having to grow up? Always being able to do and say whatever you want, because let's face it, who's gonna stop me. I don't have to worry about jealous boyfriends or any such thing. This is what I was born to be, and far be it for me to bite that hand that feeds as it were, and turn my back on my maker.

As I stared at the altar, I heard the door open and close behind me. I was just passing it off as another person getting out of the rain when I caught the most intoxicating scent, a fragrance that I had only ever detected once before, and The Goddess knows that I could never forget it. The sweet scent of a female of my own kind. I allowed the smell to wash over me in waves, getting lost in it's immense depth and beauty. it was getting stronger too, which could only mean she was coming closer.

Suddenly my mind cleared for a moment. What was she doing here? In nearly 200 years I had only met 3 other vampires, and one was the one who turned me all that time ago. I killed one of the others and drank his vitae, stealing a portion of his power, and taking his enchanted sword. The third was the female, and she was in and out of my life before I knew it. Vampire were fairly rare, and this certainly wasn't the scent of the previous woman (Why can't I recall her name?!?!?), this was much sweeter. But unless this was a freakishly unbelievable coincidence, she was here for me. Did she want my help or was she after my blood?

I hear her sit a few rows behind and to the right, not wanting to turn around. Even if it is simply coincidence, I'm sure she knew what I was even as I realized what she was. Even if she didn't come here to try to kill me, she might be getting ideas now. Rain or no rain, I should be cautious and leave. The Cathouse will have to wait for tonight, this new turn of events is far more interesting, though perhaps dangerous. but then again, what is life without risk.

I walk up to the priest and give him a small tithe, thanking him for his hospitality during the storm. As I turn to walk out i get my first glimpse of the female vampire. The vision before me almost makes my steps falter. She was possibly the most beautiful lady I had ever seen, with her tied blonde hair and her wide, almost innocent looking eyes. I had to catch myself from making the mistake of thinking of her as a possible lover, rather than a probably threat. Despite her rather young looks, she could be centuries older and more powerful than me, simply looking for a snack. As her eyes met mine I could feel my resolve withering.

I forced myself to look away and walk quickly out the door. I ducked across the street and settled into some shadows created by the large awning over the door of a department store that had closed for the night. I would wait here all night if I had to. I had to know more about this incredible creature. I had never felt so drawn to anyone or anything else in all of my years. I would learn more about her, even if it cost me everything.

Shall wє bє promisєd an єtєrnal rєst?

My amber orbs followed the male vampire as he conversed with the priest, leaving him a small tithe before turning and meeting my eyes with his own crimson ones. I felt a strange feeling rush through my veins, hot and unbridled, and it almost caused me to fidget in my seat. Of all places to find another of my kind, which was rare in itself, it was in the home of the great Goddess? It was strange, and I probed the situation for any possible, important details I was overlooking.

The male paused before me for a moment, I would guess to better take in my features, though the expression on his face caused me much confusion. He carried a look of alarm, clearly aroused by my presence, but it was something more...something I couldn't quite put my finger on.

And within an instant he was gone, vanished back into the bitter reality and cold rain that pounded against the stone street outside. The weather was horrid, and although the warmth of the church called for my staying and enjoying its temperature, I found my instincts going haywire. I could still sense the presence of the male vampire, he hadn't gone too far, and I was astonished to find my body rising on its own, making its way over to the exit. I paused, unsure of why exactly I was leaving this sanctuary. What business did I have with that him? I'd never met him, never crossed paths with him before that I could remember. His scent was not familiar, though I found myself attracted to its musky undertones.

"Tell me Goddess, could this be a sign?" I questioned inwardly, raising my eyes to meet the beautiful mural painted on the ceiling above me. It was as old as I could remember, and the paint was now beginning to chip and reveal bare patches of building. Even still, the enchanting scene captivated me as I reached for the door and pushed it open.

I was immediately met with a wave of air, sharp and chilly, and I huddled further into my coat. I didn't know why I was doing this, had no clue as to why I had left a warm place to stay to chase after some unfamiliar vampire, but I couldn't seem to ignore the burning sensation coarsing through my blood.

So here I was. Now what?

PostSubject: Re: ‡Eternal Damnation‡ [May be Mature]   ‡Eternal Damnation‡ [May be Mature] EmptyFri Feb 06, 2009 11:58 pm

I didn't have to wait very long before she came out. So she was following me. But the speed of her exit made me think that either she wasn't very subtle, or it had originally been a coincidence. Any skilled tracker would've either waited before following, or left by a different exit. Perhaps I was thinking to far into this and she was simply as confused by my presence I was by hers. And this night had started out so straightforward.

I watched as she emerged from the church, noticing the cute little wiggle she had when she walked, then berating myself for getting distracted again. I hadn't even met her yet and already she was having an affect on my thinking, I was going to have to either introduce myself or get the hell away from her before my mind got too clouded. This not knowing was throwing my thoughts into all kinds of directions that it really didn't need to be going.

I decided it was time to see just what she was capable of and what her intentions were. I didn't think she could see me, but the way she kept scanning the area I was in meant that she could definately sense me in some way, even if not visually. I didn't know if it was some kind of sixth sense or what but it was unnerving to know she knew where I was even when I was deep in shadows. I sank slowly into the shadows using my shadow-walking, drifting out of them on the church side of the street.

Her head snapped around towards me immediately as I appeared, showing that her ability to sense me was defiantely beyond the ordinary. If it was just scent, it would've taken at least a couple seconds for the smell to get to her. I wasn't sure whether to be impressed or afraid of her abilities, since I still had no idea of her intentions, but it was just about time to find out.

I stepped from the small shadowy alcove I was skulking in and walked directly towards her. She seemed slightly taken aback by my boldness, but she recovers quickly. A mortal probably wouldn't even have noticed the short moment of surprise. "Are you looking for me?" I ask in a calm tone of voice, not wanting this to escalate if at all possible.

As she paused for a moment I watched her reactions. I stared into her eyes, looking for something to reveal what she was thinking. I expected her eyes to be flicking around, looking for advantageous ground and possible exit routes. Instead, she stared right back into my eyes. This meant one of three things. A) She already knew her surroundings well enough, B) She was so confident of her abilities that the setting was irrelevant, or C) She truly didn't intend for this to come to blows. I was becoming more intrigued by her by the second.

Stark amusement immediately crept across my face, pulling at the corners of my lips as they curved into a small smirk. "Such a bold assumption," I replied, my sharp eyes never leaving his for an instant. He captivated me, this strange male vampire, and I couldn't seem to sway my attentions from him. Such odd clothing he wore, obviously outdated yet refined and stylish, and he carried himself with an air of dignity that could only bring one to assume he was of older lineage among our kind. Two hundred, perhaps three hundred years old? It seemed quite possible, actually, and of the few instances in my lifetime I had come across an older member of our society, my assumptions of their ages were never too far off.

"You're not from around here, that's for certain. Tell me, what brings you to our humble town?" I inquired, my voice soft and inviting so as not to give him the wrong impression. This man that I was speaking to, this other vampire, he seemed so cautious of my presence. I had no intention of fueling a fire that needn't be ignited.

"You mean to tell me you don't already know? I assumed that you were the welcoming party." I said with a slight grin, trying to gauge her reactions. She was studying me just as intently as I was studying her. If she was hunting me, she would likely have enough information on me to make that unnecessary. I relaxed visibly, hoping that this really was what it appeared to be, a random encounter.

"But your assessment of me was quite accurate my dear. I am most certainly not, as you say, from around here. The way you say that makes me believe that you are though. If that's the case, I'm surprised we haven't crossed paths before. I've been enjoying the nightlife here for six months now. I find your local pubs and clubs rather entertaining. My own home had become increasingly dull as the years wore on. They used to be so vigorous, and now all they seem to do is watch football and fight, even the women. But I digress, you've allowed me to reminisce and I got carried away."

I had babbled on and she appeared to actually be listening to it, genuinely interested in the past I was incessantly telling her. I wasn't even that interested in that past, and I'd been there. I was just trying to see how she'd react, and this was the last thing I expected, most people would've stopped me, after all it was incredibly boring.

"I'm deeply sorry for that, I occasionally get lost in a story. That was so terribly rude of me. I know nothing about you and that is something I intend to rectify. Tell me about yourself. A lovely lady such as yourself shouldn't be stuck listening to me prattle on about nothing. What is your name and why don't I already know you?"

I listened as he spoke, honestly ingtrigued by his words, and my eyes sparkled with amusement. So he was a talkative one. I smiled, flashing my perfect teeth this time. At least our encounter would be entertaining.

"Are you always this loquacious?" I teased lightly, my body visibly relaxing as well. It was obvious he didn't fancy a violent confrontation either, which I must admit was somewhat relieving. Even still, I desired to acquire more information about him. I myself had been away for a while, taking care of matters that required much more time than I had originally planned. How strange it was to finally return home and find that a member of my own kind had settled in, and so very close to me too.

"My name is Kaylee. Kaylee Rose," I replied eloquently. I eyed his attire, still intrigued by his unusual way of dress, and extended a gloved hand to him politely. "And to whom do I owe the pleasure to?" I inquired, flashing another ever so charming smile.

PostSubject: The beautiful stranger...   ‡Eternal Damnation‡ [May be Mature] EmptyThu Feb 12, 2009 3:29 am

"And I am Gareth. Gareth Shaw. It is lovely to make you're aqauintance my dear." I bowed deeply, taking the offered hand and kissing it gently in the old world style. She smiled as I did this and I almost lost myself. Her smile was epic, something of legends. I could feel myself slowly melting just by looking at it, and it was at that moment that I knew that no matter what else, I would do almost anything to keep her smiling. Her curved lips made everything seem great, lit up my world in a way I hadn't known since I could see the sun.

I dragged myself back to the situation at hand. She seemed more relaxed now, and I was glad that this was coming back into a territory that I was more comfortable with. I found talking with beautiful smiling ladies much more appealing than a woman that likely wanted to kill me. Now that I didn't have to worry so much about fighting, I could concentrate more on this enchanting creature before me.

"I apologize for being loquacious, as you so succinctly put it. And no, I am not always this way. When presented with such an intoxicating presence such as yourself, many gentleman would get speechless, but I unfortunately tend to get garrulous. I will, for your sake, attempt to keep myself under control." I paused briefly, trying to think of something witty to say. In the face of that smile I failed miserably.

"So, if you are from around here, why have I never encountered you before? I've wandered these night-time streets on many an occasion, and I certainly would've remembered seeing you at any point during my travels. Where are your feeding grounds in this area?" If she had a local feeding area that I had missed, I would berate myself for my negligence in fully scouting the area. Clearly her knowing the area, she had a certain edge over me, but that was no excuse. Though it only took moments for her reply, it felt like millennia before I heard that sweet voice again.

"You flatter me so," I replied with another wide smile, and I returned my hand to my side. His words were sweet, though he was too openly curious for his own good. It was clear to me in his lifetime he had not come across very many of our kind.

I eyed him for a moment, still very much intrigued by his flamboyant character.

"My feedings grounds are a couple hundred miles off, toward the mountains in the north. It's about a days travel," I replied, shifting my amber orbs toward the direction I was speaking of. "If you have been here for some time, Mr. Shaw, may I ask where you have been feeding?"

"I've found that feeding is easiest within the city itself. Going to large gatherings of humans and joining in their revels makes them easy targets. Mostly I find that intoxicated humans are unlikely to remember that something happened, and they just attribute their weakness from blood loss to their hangover."

I didn't want to get too specific with her, after all we were hunting the same game. As much as I liked the idea of her staying nearby to feed and getting to know he better, when it come right down to it, we do what we must to survive.

"There are even some that are willing to simply give you their blood. Many humans find our kind intriguing, and a few go as far as to almost worship us. The only problem with them is that eventually they want to become one of us and you have to cut them loose."

I tried to remember if there was a settlement to the north by the mountains or if she was implying that she fed from animals. I've heard that some do this, feeling that taking the blood of humans is wrong. I've never been one to kill a person by draining them completely, but only twicehave I ben desperate enough to drnk from livestock, and I was not impressed.

So he did not drink to kill. I hadn't met one of his kind in such a long time...
Those who did not drink to kill were usually the younger generation of vampires, and there were
few of the ancients who had conformed to the more modern ways of feeding.

How very interesting this man was. He'd certainly caught my attention, and I found myself further
and further intrigued with him with every word he spoke.

"Humans are rather easily influenced on their own," I smirked, and I took a delicate step to the left
to avoid a few stray raindrops that had found there way beneath the shelter they were occupying.
How I utterly despised the rain...

"I can only imagine the intoxicated ones to be nothing more than puddy in your hands. Tell me, Mr. Shaw,
do you ever go after more exciting prey?"

I gave an intrigued grin and said, "My dear, I am always in the mood for a touch of excitement. I have tried to hunt various people in my unlife, some more entertaining than others. Recently I admit to having become somewhat lazy, seeking simple targets solely for the purpose of slaking my thirst...."

I was suddenly caught by her fiery eyes and found myself enthralled. I simply could not look away. I had been warned by the one who's turned me that some possessed the ability to entrance others with a simple look. I could feel myself growing more and more fond of this Kaylee girl.

I slowly tore my gaze away from hers. Was I stronger than her or had she released me from her grip, or was it something infinitely simpler. Was I becoming enamoured with this creature I had only just met. Either way I would have to keep myself under control. Whether it was her thoughts being imposed on me, or my own thoughts moving in unexpected directions was unclear, but whatever the circumstances, I would have to be careful.

I looked out to the city itself and asked her, "What did you have in mind?"
