PostSubject: Unknown Secrets   Sun Oct 04, 2009 2:09 am

Growing up was hard enough, but growing up with a deadly secret was even harder. Taylor knew this well, and so he kept his secret well. In fact, he kept it so well that no one in the entire school had any idea that when the moon shone at night, Taylor was no longer a 17 year old senior, he was a wonderful creature that was swift, strong, and amazingly clever. By moonlight, Taylor was what humans feared most. A wolf.

Unlike many members in his pack who simply avoided making any close ties to humans, Taylor was one of those kids that had his thumb in just about everything. Pretty much everyone knew him, or knew of him, because he played football, was president of the foreign languages club, and he was practically a straight A student. He was polite, and courteous to women, and was the life of the party amongst the guys. Taylor was the guy everyone wanted to know, and every girl wanted to be with, except, no one knew who he really was.

Strangely, this time Taylor sat alone. He was staring out the window, seemingly at nothing, in an empty room. He was so focused on his inner meanderings that he didn’t even notice someone outside the door until he heard it open.

The air was crisp and sharp that day, and Natalya was suddenly glad that she had snatched her
brother's hat to wear to school, even if the fuzzy ears were a bit much for her taste. It did the job
of keeping her warm and cozy, however, and she pulled it down over her ears in an attempt to
combat the chilly air. It had been abnormally cold for the past few days, and Natalya wrinkled
her nose in discomfort as the air nipped at her face and cheeks. Oh, how she hated the cold.

Hurrying to get through the doors and back into the heated building, she nearly tripped over
her own feet and silently cursed to herself. School had been over for at least forty five
minutes so she wasn't really late for anything, but she did want to make it in before the
janitor started locking all the doors to the classes. She needed to study for her anatomy
test tomorrow that she was so not ready for. If only the teacher had given them more
notice, maybe she could have cranked out a few note cards or something along those
lines. Then again, she hadn't been there when the upcoming test was announced, so she
really had no one to blame but herself. Blaming the teacher felt so much better, though.

Racing up the stairs she pushed the door to the science hall, smiling as she was met
with a swift rush of warm air. Finally no more ice land. Making her way down the
corridor she paused in front of Ms. Tello's old room, and she scanned the area
to make sure no one was around to yell at her for breaking in.

Natalya had been coming here for a few weeks now to study when needed. It was
a perfect, quiet little place, and no one knew about it. Well, students knew it was
there, but n oone knew it was still kept unlocked during school hours even though
Ms. Tello had retired last year. It didn't make sense to her, but she didn't mind--
it was a free study space away from the busy loud confines of her house.
Studying there was like trying to study in a zoo! Her little brother always had
friends over, and when they weren't yelling when losing at video games they
were ripping through the house and beating each other with pillows.
It was so annoying.

Taking one last look around she quickly slunk in, smiling to herself as she closed
the door behind her and made no sound while doing so. Her smile quickly faded,
however, when she noticed someone sitting in a desk at the far end of the room.
His face was hidden, his back turned to her as he gazed out of the window silently.
Shifting awkwardly in place Natalya leaning back against the door as her voice
rang out in surprise.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't think anyone would be in here."

Taylor turned slowly to see who had intruded on his solitude to see Natalya standing in front of the door, looking shocked that he was sitting there while looking almost annoyed at the same time. He almost chuckled as he realized he had probably intruded on her, and not the other way around. He wasn’t usually the type to stay after school. There was always something that made sure he had to go straight home.

Sometimes it was the younger boys fighting amongst each other. Other times there were prey that needed to be caught, members reminded of their need to keep quiet, and even the occasional fight between two bitches. Taylor was always kept busy, mostly because his father so desperately wanted him to take over the pack when he retired. Taylor had to be the strongest, smartest, and most respected wolf to take over after his father, because pack leadership was not passed through families. Only the strongest male wolf could rule, and if an alpha had weak pups and those pups were allowed to rule, the pack would surely perish.

There really was no competition for the spot however. He was easily the strongest young male in the entire pack, and every female wanted to get with him. That same strength passed over into his human life as well, and while humans couldn’t pinpoint where it came from, they respected him regardless.

He settled his amber eyes on her, their color far too bright to be human but who in their right mind would point that out? He allowed himself a smile, both from the thought that he had intruded upon her, and that she was one of the girls that didn’t seem to want to fawn on him all the time. He respected Natalya, not that he knew her personally, but because she seemed to have her own mind and thoughts, and more importantly she was clever. That was something Taylor loved to find in any female, regardless of species.

“No, it’s alright. I should be heading home anyway.”

Natalya grinned in response to Taylor's smile, letting her tense body relax in relief that it was
someone she knew. Taylor was one of the boys in her class, though it would be insulting
if she had dismissed it at just that. Not only was he one of the most popular and sought
after boys in school, he was also on the football team, was president of the foreign
languages club, and a straight A student--something Natalya could only dream of being.

"I didn't think anyone knew this place was even still unlocked," she chuckled, allowing
her deep, dark pools to meet his striking amber ones. They were breathtaking and
bright, almost unnaturally even, and she suddenly felt a pang of jealousy at their
beauty. She hated her own eyes; there was absolutely nothing special about them.
Gazing at the smile that still adorned his face, she wondered why it was he was in
here alone in the first place. Natalya couldn't recall the last time she'd seen him not
surrounded by a group or people, or ever for that matter. He was always in the
company of at least one, if not two or three other people.

How annoying that would be. She couldn't even imagine what it would be like to
never have any time for yourself, which would explain why he was in here in the
first place. No one ever came here. Well, at least, no one besides her.

"In any case, you don't have to leave on account of me," she spoke up, letting
another small smile pass her perfect lips. Her eyes held a friendly twinkle
as she held her binder close to her chest. "I promise I'll be quiet."

Taylor smiled again and nodded, but he still stood up. He stretched widely, bringing his arms up over his head. After he had stretched his generous amount of muscle he leaned back against the desk with a graceful ease that none of the other football players had. His ambers eyes were still trained on Natalya, and it almost seemed as if he was appraising her.

“I hope I’m not being rude for asking, but what do you do here by yourself when school has been out for so long?”

He didn’t want to insult her, or be too forward with her, but he couldn’t help his curiosity. After all, there was plenty of times that he had after school practice and saw her sneaking back into the empty school, and at night when he most certainly couldn’t be seen, in turn saw her walking home in the dark.

In fact, there had been a couple of times that he had walked her home those nights, of course without her knowledge. He was curious about what brought her here so late, and also why she seemed to be alone almost every time he saw her.

"Oh that," Natalya replied, a small blush rising to her already rosy cheeks. So he had
noticed that then? She was hoping no one had been paying enough attention to her to
have had.

The reason seemed more than embarrassing to her. She had always been
self-conscious about struggling to keep up with school and her grades. To her it
wasn’t something that came naturally, and she found difficulties wrapping her
fingers around the ideas her teachers tried to teach her. A tutor most likely
would avoid the late hours she spent in this damned place, but Natalya just
couldn’t swallow her pride enough to ask for help. It infuriated her too much
that she couldn’t get things on her own.

“Well, since know one’s here I use the room to study," she explained,
though her obvious discomfort with the topic was evident. "Of course
I have to be out by the time the janitors come to lock the doors or I’d definitely
be in trouble, but it beats the loud obnoxious boys running around my house
that prevent me from studying at home.”

Feeling a more intense heat begin to burn at her face she continued to keep
her eyes glued to the floor, but at the curiosity that suddenly began to chew
at her she forced her eyes back to face his once again.

"Why are you here?" she asked, the question a bit blunt as she struggled to
fight her stupid, childish reactions. She could feel the heat emanating from
her scarlet cheeks continue to rise, and she cursed at herself inwardly.

Stupid, stupid emotions.

Taylor couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped his lips at her discomfort. He didn’t see why she should be embarrassed about finding a quiet place to study, nor did he think she should feel at all embarrassed about asking him the same question he had asked her. Not that he could really tell her the answer.

The truth was that he needed some time to think away from the pack, and right now the only place to accomplish that was the school. The females wouldn’t come here because as they put it, the human stench was too much. Some of the other females simply didn’t want to come to the school because there were too many human teenagers that wouldn’t leave them alone. Much like the female humans couldn’t seem to leave him alone, human males couldn’t leave the females of his kind alone either. They were simply too beautiful for them to simply look the other way. No, this place was at the moment his only place of solitude, and a break from his responsibilities within the pack.

“I wanted to spend some time thinking.” He said softly, giving her the most truthful answer that he possibly could. Changing the subject from himself quickly, he said, “If you spend all your time here studying, why not ask someone to help you?”

Ask someone to help her? Just the thought of asking for help brought that familiar
irritation and shame to rise within her chest and threaten to escape through her throat.
Asking only furthered to prove how incompetent she really was on her own. Despite the
ages of her younger brothers they were still very quick to learn, though such intellect
was not uncommon in her family. Her father worked as a chemist at a local university--
the same university where her mother taught English. It was where they had met, after
all, and gotten married a few years later.

That was what infuriated her the most. Out of everyone in her family, why was it only
she did not inherit that capacity to experience and retain knowledge? Instead here she
was desperately trying to get at least a C on the next test. It didn't help that her parents
refused to hide their disappointment either.

"I don't know," she replied in response to his question, not wanting to reveal her true
reasoning for refusing aid. She was unable to come up with any believable excuses.

He cocked an eyebrow at her response, and with that small gesture it seemed as if his entire bearing changed. Before he seemed relaxed and open, someone who was easy to approach and talk to. Now he was tense, and his eyes went from lazy pleasure to something akin to steel. His change in demeanor had little to do with Natalya though. With his heightened sense of hearing he could hear the howl of his pack. Specifically the howl of his older ‘brothers’ as they were affectionately called. They held no true relation to him, but had all grown up together and so were very close. These same brothers were the ones he had previously been trying to get away from as well, hoping to give himself some time to think and be free of their ruckus.

‘Shit’ he thought, as he realized what the meaning was in that howl. They were looking for him, and he knew he had maybe fifteen minutes before they would find him. He did not want Natalya to be found by that crew. They would eat a girl like her alive. Maybe not literally, but she was attractive, even by wolf standards, and they would take advantage of their power over her.

“I think you do know.” He said, trying to hide the edge that had come to his voice and demeanor. He stood up fully and picked up his jacket. He didn’t put it on, because quite frankly he wouldn’t really be wearing it for long. He walked over to her and pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket. With quick strokes he wrote down his name and number on the paper, and tucked it into the binder that she held so close to her chest.

“If you ever need help, or don’t want to study alone, give me a ring. I promise, I’d never tell a soul.” He winked with his last declaration, and left the building quickly. Once he made it to the cover of the trees, he shrugged out of his shirt and pants, and folded them over his shoes. The air was bitingly cold, and he knew there would probably be snow soon.

These thoughts didn’t last too long as he let the change take over him. Soon he was covered with the black and white fur that made him stand out even in his own pack and took off to find his brothers. Raising his voice to a pitch that no human could hear, but one he knew his brothers would hear and come towards.

The time for thinking was over.

Natalya's eyebrows furrowed in response to Taylor's now rigid body, and she cocked her head
slightly as she watched him smile off his tense demeanor. Had she said something that had
offended him? She watched as he plucked his jacket from the back of the desk he'd been sitting
on and made his way over to her, his movements fluid and effortless as he did so. The way he
moved, so gracefully and easily, it sent her mind reeling.

He did catch her off guard, however, at his next actions. Her inky orbs followed the movements
of his hand as he scribbled his phone number in the most beautiful handwriting she had ever seen,
but what caused her breath to catch in her chest is what he had decided to do with the paper next.

"If you ever need help, or don’t want to study alone, give me a ring. I promise, I’d never tell a soul,"
he winked as he tucked the scrap gently into the binder she now squeezed tightly to her chest--
almost as tightly as her throat had now made itself. Just as soon as he had presented himself
dangerously close to her, however, she watched him disappear through the doorway and out
of sight.

Standing there for a moment, she attempted to regain her once again misplaced composure.
What was it about him that made her stomach flutter? He was so strange, so unusual and
almost otherworldly, though saying that out loud she was sure would offend him. Wouldn't
anyone be offended if they were labeled as weird?

She wasn't sure, but either way she would think of these happenings later on after she had drilled
the new vocabulary for anatomy into her mind. Anatomy! She'd fail that test if she didn't get to
work now.

Letting out a frustrated sigh she made her way over to the other side of the room, pausing
at the desk Taylor had just arose from. Following her instincts she sat down without thinking,
surprised at the warmth of the seat. It was almost too hot for her to bear.

"I wish I could be this warm all the time. Instead here I am freezing my butt off 24/7."

Opening her binder she suddenly chuckled softly at herself, pulling out the paper with all the
material she needed to know for the exam tomorrow. Why had she sat in the exact same
seat as him anyway? She was such a creep.

Casting out all non-anatomy related thoughts she let out another loud sigh, though this one
was one of disdain. She had a lot of studying to do.

Taylor had had a rough night. Well, if you call running and wrestling for hours, and then a fight with a bear a rough night. That bear had been a difficult kill, but was no match for six full grown male wolves, especially with Taylor at the head of them all. He was a brute when he needed to be, using all his muscle and weight to his advantage. When the boys had finally made it home, it was not without their own share of injuries, especially Taylor who had to get the bear to release his brother Micheal from the bear’s claws.

By now his abnormal healing powers had healed him completely, but that didn’t stop him from aching all over. He groaned as he forced himself through his morning routine, showering, dressing, and eating a quick breakfast that his mother had made him. Without that breakfast he wouldn’t be able to function normally at all, because of the intense hunger that would have coursed through him until lunch.

Those next few days had been a bit rough simply because of football practice, school, and the fact that he was still sore from that fight. They had practically passed completely in a blur, considering the added training his father had put him under because of the late night wandering.

He was lucky that it was so easy for him to pick up and retain information because otherwise his Anatomy exam would not have a big A on it. It didn’t mean all that much to Taylor though, just another A to add to his collection. He liked to do his best, but it wasn’t a huge accomplishment to get an A. It was simply something he expected of himself now.

However, he couldn’t help but wonder what Natalya had gotten on the exam. After all, his first real conversation with her had been when she was holding her binder to study for that exact exam. Ever since then she invariably would keep coming up in his thoughts no matter how much work he did to try and think of something else. Especially since she had never called him.

Taylor wasn;t a braggart nor was he cocky. At least he always tried not to be. However, it wasn’t often that when he gave out his number he didn’t get a call back. It had been three days already! He ran his hands through his hair again as he tried to not think about it. Of all things, he knew he shouldn’t expect things to just fall in his lap, and if she didn’t want to speak with him it was probably for the best. After all, what did he expect to happen?

If she’d called then they might have gone out, maybe kissed, but that was all he could allow himself. He wasn’t even of the same species for Moon’s sake! Yet, she kept coming to mind and he was not one to ignore a reoccurring thought.

“So how did you do on the test?” He asked, after walking casually over to her desk and leaning against another empty one. His laidback demeanor was back, since there was nothing for him to be tense about. Except of course, for the blonde woman before him that wouldn’t leave him with any peace of mind.

Natalya jumped a bit in surprise of Taylor's sudden appearance, but a warm
smile passed her face nonetheless. The familiar friendliness twinkled in her obscure
orbs, though her eyes were laden with heaviness and forehead creased. From afar
one wouldn't have noticed it, but up close and personal she looked as if she hadn't
slept since the last time they had met.

That was three days ago.

"The test?" she replied, though the fake cheerfulness was quite obviously forced.
She hadn't the energy for the genuine emotion. "I aced it! I guess all that studying
paid off," she replied with an artificial grin, attempting to be as believable as possible--
though Natalya was sure the boy had his doubts by the skeptical look on his face.

"I'd ask you the same thing, but I'm sure I already know the answer," she added
jokingly. It was well-known just how amazing of a student Taylor really was.
Some even said he was a genius and was given the opportunity to skip a couple
years of high school and go straight to college, but he had denied the offer.

But that was just a rumor.

Taylor grimaced slightly at the forced happiness that was coming through in her voice. He hated it when people had to pretend to be anything they were not. He had plenty of experience of pretending to be something you weren’t for him to desire that everyone around him be themselves. As he saw it, they had a beautiful gift, that ability to be themselves. He would have loved to be himself with his friends, but he knew they would be terrified of him if he showed them what he truly was.

Her strained expression told him that she had not gotten the grade she wanted at all. In fact, she looked downright distressed by it, and he found himself wanting to cheer her up somehow. What he didn’t know, was how.

“Come on. Do you still distrust me so?”

He figured that she would figure out what he meant by his question. No matter what she believed he knew that she was clever, just like he knew himself to be wolf. Grades only showed that you could memorize facts, not that you could survive in the wild, work out problems within pack, or defeat an enemy.

Distrust him? So she wasn't as believable as she thought she was. Dammit. Why was
she so moronic when it came to school work? It seemed like no matter how hard she
studied, she could never keep up with her family's expectations.

And that killed her.

"Haha, so it's that obvious then?" she laughed off her discomfort, though it was not
discomfort in response to his presence. In fact, it felt rather easy to talk to him.
No, it was discomfort at not being able to reach the standard that had been pressed
down upon her all her life.

Boy, she couldn't wait to get home. Drowning in disappointment was always
something to look forward to.

"I thought I was a better liar than that. Guess I better keep my day job," she smiled.

Taylor cocked his head to the side as he looked at her, his amber eyes regarding her intensely. The movement was so wolf like, that he normally avoided such actions, but her words and emotions were confusing him so much that he was getting caught off guard. He wasn’t used to girls like this who even attempted to hide things from him. Something that was normally said was that he was the one person they simply couldn’t lie to. Something about his eyes.

Yet, here she was, trying to hide things, living with some kind of mask. A mask that he found himself relating to. He lived with a mask on himself. Never being able to show his true form in the human world, nor truly be himself amongst his pack. They frowned on his human life, a part of him that was as integral as the hunting howl.

“There’s something your hiding.”

His words were so abrupt that even he hadn’t thought them through. After he said them though, he couldn’t exactly deny them nor did he really want to take them back. Once again though, he found himself at a loss. He never spoke without thinking simple because it could lead to horrible consequences. Yet, he couldn’t bring himself to care.

“I rather wish you wouldn’t lie to me.” He said, looking out the window and away from the girl who was making him make mistakes that a new pup on their first foray into the human world would make.

Natalya looked startled by his abrupt reply, and she gazed at him curiously, locking her eyes
on the back of his head as he turned and gazed up and out of the classroom window.

Oh no. Had she offended him again? Why did she always say things that he was put off by?
She didn't understand him at all.

Thinking back now to before she had ever spoken to him, back when all she knew about him
was from rumors the fawning girls spread or the way he ran the student activities, she compared
her impression of him then to her impression of him now. He was a lot more complicated than she
had originally thought. Then again, she didn't have much of a basis to form those judgmental thoughts
in the first place.

"I'm sorry," she blurted out, and she instinctively placed her hand gently on his arm. Noticing the
look of surprise on his face at her action, however, she drew her hand back sharply. Why had she
touched him in the first place? It was not like she'd known him very long. This was only her second
time ever talking to him in her life.

"I'm sorry," she repeated, biting her lip anxiously. Another embarrassed, crimson flush passing her
face. Why did she always react like that??

"I've noticed every time I meet I seem to somehow make you upset."

With the rapid movement of a hummingbird’s wings, Taylor’s eyes flashed with various emotions with her statement. First and foremost was surprise, then his eyes softened to seem almost reassuring, and then they hardened before finally softening as he sighed.

“You do not upset me per se.” He began, running his hand through his hair as he tried to figure out exactly what to say. “To be frank I’m used to a certain set of behavior from people. The thing is, you confuse me.”

With that last word he looked at her hard, his golden eyes boring into hers, trying to figure something out about the girl in front of him. Finally, it seemed as if he gave up, and looked away again. His face solidified into his normal mask, and a smile graced his features.

“Truly you have nothing to be apologizing for. I’m just not accustomed to people wanting to hide things from me. I suppose I should find it refreshing that it’s the second time we’ve spoken and you haven’t spilled your darkest secrets to me.’

Natalya set her gaze to match Taylor's bright, golden pools, though she was taken aback by
the wild look in his eyes. Piercing and intimidating, they looked almost animalistic.

"I'm sorry," she let slip out once again, then realized he had said she had nothing to be sorry
for. "I'm sorr-Oh. Okay, wait. I'm not sorry. Well, I mean I'm not not sorry, it's just that--"
she cut herself off, letting out a sigh of frustration with herself. Here she was again making a fool
of herself.

"Okay, let me start over," she breathed out, clutching her binder to her chest again. It seemed work
as a security blanket for her more than anything.

"Do you want to know what I'm hiding? It's no deep dark secret, so sorry to disappoint you."

Biting her lip with obvious discomfort as she cast her opaque orbs downward, unable to keep eye
contact with him any longer. She didn't like talking about this--didn't even like to think about it.
It was just something she was constantly burdened with.

Stupidity.

"I have a hard time getting things in class," she suddenly spoke, though she didn't bother to look up.
"I spend all this time studying and I get so frustrated because it doesn't seem to help me. I mean,
sometimes I understand it when they teacher teaches it, but as soon as I get off on my own it's like
I draw a complete blank."

He couldn’t help it. He laughed. A big throated, belly laugh. One that for a moment drew the attention of the other students in the class, before they realized it was him and looked away. Taylor’s laugh was one of those things that should be heard far more than it currently was. Sure he would chuckle, but never this kind of laugh. He was genuinely amused, and when he stopped laughing his eyes held a light in them that showed his delight and happiness, without a hint of mockery in them.

“I’m sorry for laughing.” He said, still chuckling. “but if that’s what you’ve been so desperate to hide, why didn’t you call me? I already told you that I can help, and I can be very discreet.”

The true reason for his laughter was at himself. That whole time he had thought he had been doing something to bother her, or perhaps she was suspicious of him. To find it be something so, well, ordinary was laughable to him.

Natalya could feel the heat rise to her face as she stood before him, his laughter obviously
directed specifically at her, and she clenched her fists tightly. Swallowing back the lump
in her throat, she couldn't help but cast him a dirty look as she prepared herself to walk away.

She halted, however, at his next words. He wasn't laughing because he thought she was an idiot?

"Well, I-" she stuttered, though the words did not come as she stood awkwardly in front of him,
all eyes from the girls in the classroom on her. They didn't look too happy that she was talking
to him, let alone making him laugh--which was a rare thing indeed.

"I guess I just didn't want to bother you, is all."

What a pathetic, pathetic excuse. How stupid she felt standing there under the scrutinizing gazes of her
female classmates while she ignored an honest offer from the hottest guy in school? She almost
couldn't stand it.

"I-I have to go," she blurted out, and she turned quickly on her heel--only to be caught off guard by a
gentle hand on her arm.

He panicked. That was all that could be said for the emotion that coursed through him when she started walking away. All he could think was that he had done something wrong, that she would never speak to him again. And he had thought things had been going rather well.

Now she was claiming she didn’t want to bother him and was trying to walk away from him. The beast within him, the wolf, called out to him. He acted on impulse. He didn’t think his actions through. Because if he had, he probably wouldn’t have pulled her back and pressed his lips against hers.

The first thing he thought was that her lips were incredibly soft. Tender, like a ripe peach. He wanted more. Wanted to taste the sweetness that he was sure was her mouth. But the second thought that gripped him gave him a whole new level of panic. He had kissed her. Without her permission and when she was most likely walking away from him.

The students in the class were shocked at the very least. No one had ever seen Taylor kiss a girl before. Hell he had never even really showed more than a passing interest in a girl. And now, out of every girl in the school he was kissing Natayla? The girls were infuriated, the guys were now curiously looking at Natayla and wondering what it was that Taylor saw, and Taylor himself was both proud and disgusted with himself.

However, the wolf within him would allow for no more human disgrace. As wolf he felt no remorse, and since he had already damned himself, he wouldn’t let go of his pride as well. He pulled her into a tight embrace with one arm, the other holding himself steady against the desk. He didn’t give her time to talk, let alone think before he whispered in her ear for only her to hear.

“You may hate me now, and quite frankly it doesn't matter. I can't let it matter because then there is no chance for me. You have got to be the most intoxicating, infuriating, and confusing woman I have ever met, and I just can't let you walk away from me. ”

He pulled back slowly, looking deeply into her dark eyes with his golden orbs. Taylor wanted to know what she was thinking, whether she would reject him or not. As much as he wished he could remain only focused on her, he soon realized that they were literally surrounded by curious eyes. Suddenly he felt horrible, like he had completly and utterly embarrased both of them.

"I'm sorry." He whispered, turning away from her questioning gaze. "Im sorry."

Then he ran, much like he had as a pup when he had done something wrong. He ran out of the classroom, faster than he had ever allowed his classmates to see.

Natalya could only stand there, wide-eyed and dazed as her inky pools watched Taylor's lithe
form disappear through the classroom door. She was not phased by the many pairs of eyes
bore their way into the back of her head, nor the small scoffs of jealousy and disapproval that
emitted from the other girls' lips. She ignored the leers from her male classmates, ignored
even those that seemed to be plagued by nothing but pure and utter shock. She ignored them
not because she wanted to, not because it made her much more comfortable to imagine that
none of them were there, but because she could focus on nothing more than the feeling of
Taylor's lips on her own.

What had just happened? No, that was a stupid question. She obviously knew, along
with everyone else that had been standing in the classroom, what had happened. The real
question was, why? Or maybe it was how?

No, it was both. How could he possibly have chosen, out of all the attractive girls in their
class, to kiss her? How was it that she had managed to anger him in so many different ways,
on so many different levels, and then end up with a kiss and run? Why had he acted so rashly,
so instinctively? And why was it that he was so intent on getting close to her?

All these questions swirled within her mind, creating a massive whirlpool that succeeded in doing
nothing but washing heavy dizziness over her body and forcing her to fall into the desk behind her.

Where was Taylor going now? He had darted out of class as soon as he realized what he had done,
fleeing from the scrutinizing eyes of his classmates. But how could she blame him for doing so?
Was she not about to flee herself because of the looks she was receiving from the other females?
And that was before he had kissed her.

Fighting the continuous wash of dizziness, Natalya forced herself up from her seat and made her way
toward the door. She dared not look back for fear of how she would react to all the stares she could
feel following after her as she, too, disappeared through the doorway.

But now where to go? The school wasn't too large, but it would be impossible to find Taylor without
some sort of lead or direction. And how could she know just where he would be going in the first
place? She had no idea what his next class was, or if he was even at school still to begin with.
He wouldn't ditch, would he? Natalya halted in the middle of the hall, ignoring the murmurs of
protest from students trying to wiggle past her unmoving form in an attempt to get to class.

Where to look first? Natalya bit her lip and backed up, ignoring a curse from a rather unhappy
girl she had caused to drop her books, and took off into a brisk jog down the hall. She ran toward
the gym, past the boys locker room, her eyes frantically searching for the form of the boy she
most definitely would not fail to recognize--but he was no where to be found.

Maybe he had ditched school altogether after all? And if he had, was she really prepared to get
detention herself just to go look for him? At that thought suddenly struck her, causing her to halt
in her tracks. Just why was she trying to find him in the first place? He had grabbed her, kissed
her without her permission, earned her the scorn of all her female classmates and the perverse
thoughts of her male ones, and, to top it all off, she had only just recently began speaking to him?
She barely even knew him.

Leaning back against one of the lockers next to her she let out a long, irritated sigh, unsure of
what to do. How should she feel about his sudden, disrespectful actions toward her? The confusion
was only further frustrating her, and what was confusing her now was why, after all of the reasons
she had just given herself for not following him, she still wanted to find him. Would she then
give him a piece of her mind? No, she knew the answer to that. She wasn't finding him to voice
her displeasure at his kiss. In fact, she found herself imagining a similar scene unfolding again,
though obviously under much less, public circumstances.

The familiar deep color once again crossed her already rosy cheeks, and she cursed inwardly at
herself. Why was she always blushing like that? If only she could learn to control her stupid
reactions to embarrassment, though that didn't seem like a very likely possibility. She'd been
blushing like that since she was a little kid, and she'd always been made fun of because of it.

"Stupid!" she groaned to herself, pushing off of the locker and raising her gaze to settle on
the spot where the sound of the bell now pierced its way through the hallways.

Well, if she was planning on ditching class she was running out of time.

Taylor didn’t have to try and decide whether or not he was going to ditch class. There was no decision to make. Within minutes he knew that the entire school would know of what he had done in that classroom. They would want to know why he had kissed her, and he didn’t even know the answer to that question just yet.

He took off out the back door of the building, trying to make a beeline for the forest that stretched behind the school. He wanted to run. No, he needed to run. To feel the forest floor under his paws, and the wind brushing against his face. He wanted to howl his frustration, grief, and confusion. More than that though, he wanted the simplicity of what it meant to be animal instead of the complex rules of humans. In his pack had he kissed a girl like that the female would have instantly known what he was trying to say simply from his body language. Werewolves were like that after all. She would have known if he had wanted just a quick rut or something much more.

Natalya was human though, and so there was no way she would have understood what he had been trying to tell her. So he had tried to tell in words, something she would understand. But she had given him such a shocked stare, and with the looks of those around him, he realized he may have made the gravest mistake. But wolf thought would not help him solve this very human problem.

So instead of running wild, Taylor sat down against the wall of the sports shed. It was out in the field, away from the main school building so he had his solitude, but not so far that he would tempted to change and leave these human problems behind. He needed to think and figure out what he was going to say. But first, he needed to come up with the human answer to the question she was surely going to ask him. Why.

So he clearly wasn't anywhere within the school, that was for certain. Actually, it seemed as if that
were the only thing she was certain of right now.

But where could he possibly be? Assuming he hadn't left school grounds, the only place
left to look would be the sports fields. That was only if he hadn't run off in his hurry to
get away from her. Either way, it wouldn't hurt to just take a quick peek out back of
the main building.

Cringing slightly as the last bell rang, Natalya cursed under her breath and burst
through the double doors at the end of the hall, shielding her eyes as she made
her way down the dirt path that lead to the back fields. This better be worth
the detention...

Walking past the storage shed she let out a small sigh of relief at the protection
its shadow provided from the blinding sun. She'd always liked the moon better. It
was softer, luminescent, less abrasive and yet still so powerful. It had always been
something comforting to her.

Scanning the open fields before her she clenched her fists, frustrated to not find
him at either the baseball field or football. He wasn't sitting in the bleachers either.
Dammit. So now what? Letting out another, much more irritated sigh she dropped
to the ground, leaning against the cool metal walls of the shed for support. Where
the hell could he be? He obviously wasn't on school grounds anymore, and that
would only make it more difficult to find him. As far as she knew, he could be
anywhere.

"And I ditched class for this guy...Stupid, stupid me," she chastised herself as
she brought her knees to her chest. Was she really ready to keep searching for him?
It was possible it could take all day, and she wasn't even guaranteed to find him in
the first place. Still, she couldn't quell the desperate urge that tugged at her chest
unless she found him. It was almost an obsession...

((Okay, the obsession part is kinda creepy, but whatever lol. She doesn't realize that
Taylor's sitting on the other side of the shed from her.))

Taylor’s mind was racing as he tried to come up with a solution to the problem at hand. The easiest way out was to simply say it was a joke, but the wolf inside of him snarled at that idea and he quickly discarded it. For some reason both he and his inner beast wanted Natalya, but as what he wasn’t really sure.

Just as he was about to yank his own hair out her scent drifted by and all coherent thought stopped. ‘What is she doing out here?’ he thought, knowing full well that class had already started.

He sniffed the air again trying to determine more about her state of mind just from her scent. It wasn’t difficult considering all creatures’ give off different pheromones depending on their emotion, hence the hunter’s belief that animals can smell fear.

Luckily he didn’t smell fear on her, nor anger. No, instead there was a hint of desperation in her scent, the kind of desperation that comes from wanting something that you cant have, or in this case cannot find.

Suddenly it all fell into place and he knew why she was out there and that is was not conducive to him hiding behind the shed. Before he could do anything though she sat down on the other side, and now not only could he smell her he could also hear her.

He stood without making a sound, a skill that took humans years to master if ever, and started to walk away from the shed. Taylor really wasn’t sure he could deal with this right now. That he could answer her many questions. Hell, he couldn’t even answer his own.

But it went against pack instincts to leave a female in distress and so he found himself rooted to the ground, unable to go against instinct and yet unable to fight against common sense
