	Dandy. Another year wasted on some loser who only got with me to break my heart. Again. Pathetic isn't it? You'd think you'd see it coming after FOUR YEARS of being on and off with each other. Well... It's all over now, and I'm moving on. "Welcome!" I smile as I take my customer's order, all at the same time glancing over by my best friend who decided to visit me while I'm working. After finally having no customers again, I faced her asking "Aren't you going home yet? You know I'm all right."

"Uhm, no," a bubbly voice piped up from the table at the front of the restaurant
where a young woman about the same age as Brooke sat sipping on a glass of soda. A pair of bright green
eyes met hers, and a challenging smile passed her lips.

"I'm going to stalk you today. Don't think you can escape either cuz I know where you live!"
she laughed, nearly choking on her drink.

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding. You can't kick me out, you know? I'm not being disruptive and
I ordered something, so uh," she flashed her pink tongue at her friend before
closing her mouth with a large grin.

"What time do you get off again?"

	Brooke Lankford
	I sighed, slightly annoyed at Kaylee's persistence. "All right.. I get off in 5 minutes. I guess having you come by isn't so bad." I said, hinting towards the crowds of boys drinking their soda and eating fries, all staring at Kaylee. "I'll go get ready to clock off. Don't cause trouble." I walk back behind my counter and past the other girl who has already over for me, and to the back towards the lockers. I open my locker, checking my phone for any messages. NONE. I feel so pathetic hoping there would be a text message containing those three sweet words. I took off my work shirt and changed into a cute blouse to match my black skinny jeans and my gold slippers. When I finally felt satisfied with how I looked, I walked over towards Kaylee again who finally finished her soda. "You ready?"

"Pfft, like I ever get into trouble," Kaylee laughed, then shot her friend a wink before watching her
disappear into the back.

She could tell that Brooke was a bit irritated by her presence, but she just coudn't leave her alone right now--
not after the harsh breakup she'd just gone through. Whether she got tired of her or not,
Brooke needed some sort of company now.

Kaylee took one last sip of her soda, finishing it off quickly as Brooke returned to the table.
"Oh, you changed. Cuuute," Kaylee smiled, hopping up from the booth and smoothing the
wrinkles out of her new white dress. It was summer and there was finally some sun in the town,
so she had taken advantage of the weather and bought a some new clothes.

"And yes, I'm ready. Let's get going."

	"Thanks. Cute dress." I smile knowing she must have bought another wardrobe full of clothes. "So where do you want to go?" I ask, hoping she wouldn't say the movie theaters all the while tightening my grip on my new DOLCE & GABBANA purse. Knowing he's finally a regular employee, he'd be working today, seeing as it's a Saturday. I briefly messed my long hair making it look like I just got out of bed and sexy at the same time, while waiting for Kaylee to figure out what she wants to do next, since I personally have no plans for the rest of the day.

Kaylee tilted her head slightly to the right and brought her hand up to her chin,
rubbing it thoughtfully before breaking out into a smile. "Let's go to the beach! It's actually nice here
for once, so we might as well enjoy it," she spoke up, pulling out her chapstick from her purse
and applying it methodically, pursing her lips and smacking them together before turning
to Brooke once again.

"And maybe afterward we could rent some movies? I'm down for an ice cream chick flick night," she added,
tucking a stray stand of hair behind her ear.

"Oh! Or some scary movies. I feel like watching people get stabbed. How about you?"

	Relieved that Kaylee didn't mention the movie theaters at all. "All right. Let's go get a cab to go to a store first though. I dont have anything fit for the beach. THEN we'll go to the beach. I need to get some tanning done anyway." I smiled weakly. Lately it seems like almost everyday is a shopping day because it seems to be the only thing that would get my mind off of him. It doesn't matter anymore. I keep repeating that same phrase over and over and over again and wow... who am I kidding? Biting the bottom part of my lip, I added "Let's go to Victoria's Secret. I heard they have a sale at the suimsuit department. I wanted to get some dresses from Wet Seal next door anyways." This time, my smile looking more authentic than it has been in the past few days.

"I did hear they had a sale," Kaylee replied, though her voice was a bit less peppy and more
filled with worry. She didn't ask further about it, however. It was something that just shouldn't be
talked about right now.

"I brought my car, though, so we don't have to cab it," she added, reaching into her purse and pulling
out a pair of gold keys. She held them up and jingled them with a large grin.
"Look at my new Juicy keychains! Aren't they adorable??"

Okay, so Kaylee was a bit spoiled. She knew that! It's not like she was bratty or anything, she just liked
nice things--and she could definitely afford them. The money she received from the government,
plus her parent's life insurance, was more than enough for her to live on month to month.

Kaylee's parent's had passed away three years ago, and it had taken her a long time to recover from the
shock of it, and she still felt the loss to this day. It was a tragic car accident, and Brooke had been
there supporting her the entire time. Now it was Kaylee's turn to support her best friend.
It was to a way greater extent, but she knew how much it hurt to lose someone that you love--
even if that person is a jerk face.

"My car's just around the corner. I couldn't find parking."

	"Ok." I nodded, still a bit out of it. Kaylee has really been trying hard to get me to cheer up that it worries me somewhat, because she really doesn't need to over do herself this much. It is just a boyfriend after all... Although actually... He was my Fiancee. Ridiculous, I know. But after he's started acting distant, I instantly knew there was a third party involved in our relationship. A third party that he has hidden from me for about three to four months. All that aside, I guess Im just being too sensitive and over reacting. Kaylee has gone through worse. That I know for sure. And what have I gone through? A broken heart over some moronic, childish asswipe and my parent's divorce? A lot of people has asked me how I could have gone through all of it and be able to smile so soon. What can I say? Life... is Life. Im a coward compared to someone like Kaylee. That's another thing I like about her. She's always so full of life. So cheerful even at the hardest times in life. I remember it clearly. At the hospital, sitting there with her... Her tears flooding from her face, yet she looked at me and smiled. "At least now, they're in a better place, right?" I can never forget that memory. I smiled- after thinking about it this way.. My life didn't seem so horrible anymore. "Well then, since we are going to the beach, we should also get some of those delicious red bean ice cream and some ube ice cream for us!" Knowing Kaylee, she'd jump for joy at the sound of "Ube." After our little escapade in the beautiful islands of the Philippines about a couple of years ago, she has been OBSESSED with ube. This should at least make her feel better and stop her from worrying over me so much.

Just as Brooke had expected Kaylee immediately perked up, a grin
breaking out across her face--she could barely contain her excitement. "Ube!" she exclaimed,
eyes wide and mouth watering. Ube was her ABSOLUTE FAVORITE flavor, though red bean
was just as up there. Oftentimes when they went to get ice cream she'd spend ten minutes
just trying to decide between the two of them, usually ending up getting both as a result of
her indecisiveness.

"Okay, okay! Let's go then, hurry up!" she grabbed Brooke's arm, yanking her along
behind her as she scurried toward her new white Prius.

Ice cream was a perfect idea! It was so warm outside, a nice cold refreshing dessert
was just what they needed to cheer Brooke up--and there was nothing better
than an ice cream cone on the beach!

"C'mon, c'mon! You're so slow, Brooke."

	Seeing her reaction gave me a good laugh that lasted for about 2 minutes. It's definitely been a while since I've laughed like this. Kaylee and I finally got in the new prius. As soon as I opened the door, the strong scent of strawberries came at me. I took it all in (Kaylee and I are huge fan of strawberries). I gave out a sigh of huge relief. "I love the new car freshener you bought! The other one doesn't really give off much of the scent of strawberries!" I saw Kaylee smile, proud that she finally got something that actually refreshens the car with our favorite scent. "So.. I was thinking about your offer. About how we should move in together?" It was kind of awkward for me to actually bring this up. She used to be the one who was telling me that we should move in together but during that time, I was with -him- and I kept turning her down. Now I don't have a place to stay, and I've been living with my parents again after he and I broke up.

"I know, right?" Kaylee grinned, fidgeting with the scented pink charm that dangled from her
mirror before returning her hands to the steering wheel. "The other one wasn't sweet enough,
and you could barely smell it. Besides, this one is actually shaped like a strawberry. The other was was
shaped like a tree. A strawberry tree? How does that make sense?" she laughed, turning on the car
and immediately turning on the AC.

"Ugh. Too hot!" she panted, laying her hand on her chest with an exasperated inhalation.
"Can't breathe. Sun beating down. Need ice cream," she laughed, then let out a small sigh
of relief as they were both hit with a rush of cool air. As they began to drive away Kaylee
quieted down, listening to her friend's words before speaking up once again.

"Of course, Brooke. You know I'm not gonna turn you down," she replied, slowly letting her foot
off the break as the stoplight ahead of them turned green. She'd been trying to get Brooke to
move in with her for months now, but she'd been turned down numerous times because of Pryce.
He had wanted her to move in with him instead.

"And it's not like I don't have enough room," she laughed, bringing the car to a slow halt as they
hit another red light. It was true--Kaylee had been living by herself for almost a year now.
Her grandparents had decided to move back to Oregon where her aunt an uncle lived,
but ended up staying here. She didn't want to leave Brooke.

"When would you want to move in? And what about your parents? Will they let you?"

	I laughed at Kaylee's question about my parents. "Of course they don't mind. Hahahaha! They've actually been dying to get me out of the house! I can move in whenever it's ok for you. I just have to start packing and I should be good. It's not like I have a load of stuff to bring with me anyways." I gave Kaylee a smile and said "Thanks a lot Kaylee. You're really a great friend. Ugh! I seriously wouldn't know what to do without you! You're always there for me and you always manage to cheer me up when the rest of my world seems to be falling apart!" I really appreciate Kaylee. She's done so much for me and I feel like utter poo for turning her down. God, I am such an idiot. I never should have placed Pryce over her. The scent of strawberries filled her brand new prius and all I could do was inhale it as much as I could before we have to get out to get ice cream. "I can't believe it though, my life right now feels so surreal! I don't know how to explain it." I confessed to Kaylee. It's true. Right at this moment, I honestly don't know what I'm feeling. I feel happy, and excited at the same time but I also feel depressed and inadequate because it feels like I haven't been a really good friend to Kaylee lately, and all she's ever done is try to make me feel better. Don't I just feel like a bitch? Kaylee continued to drive and took a left turn and parked across the street from Victoria's Secret. "Ready to shop, dearie?"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Save the thanks, you're embarrassing me!" she waved her hand in the air,
laughing as she carefully pulled into a parking space conveniently located across the street from
Victoria's Secret--which happened to be one of her and Brooke's favorite stores.

"Ice cream first!" she replied, turning the key and shutting off the engine. She grabbed her purse and
opened the door, stepping out into the blazing sun with a small grimace. Kaylee hated the heat.
It was good for ice cream and the beach, but bad for her complexion. She hated sweating.
"But I did hear Victoria's Secret was having a sale. We should stop there right afterward," she added.

	I couldn't help but laugh! The first words that came out of Kaylee's mouth as soon as they parked the car was about her beloved Ube Ice Cream. I swear, if I bring her a whole gallon of ube ice cream, she'd eat it all in one bite. "All right, all right. We'll go get ice cream first." I said, rolling my eyes at her playfully. I grabbed my purse and got out of the car. To be more specific... Kaylee was pretty much dragging me out of the car and onto the side walk so we could go get her ice cream. "Calm down lady! Hahaha! You drool over ube like a fat kid drools over chocolate cake." Kaylee and I walked down the street and into the ice cream shop, not far from where we parked. We discovered this shop mostly because of Kaylee's cravings for ice cream last summer. She couldn't take the heat so she just had to go in there and get ice cream, then when she found out that they sell ube ice cream there, it practically became a usual spot for us to hang out at. But recently, because of me, Kaylee haven't been able to go there. It was sort of our thing that we can't do ourselves. WE HAVE TO BE TOGETHER when we go there. Silly.

"Are you calling me fat?" Kaylee replied, placing her hands on her hips in mock anger.
"I'll have you know I've lost 6 pounds in the past few weeks. So uh," she flashed her pink tongue at her friend,
then let out a playful laugh. "But you know me, despite the diet thing I just can't turn down ice cream--
especially if it's ube. Yum!"

As soon as they walked in they were both met with a rush of cool air, and the feeling made Kaylee squeal
in delight. "Ah, it feels so much better in here! How can you possibly stand the heat, Brooke?" she took a
deep breath in, smiling at the sweet overpowering scent of ice cream.
"Yummy! I forgot how good this place smelled."

	"Lost 6 pounds or gained 6 pounds?" I laughed, "I'm only kidding!" I backed away quickly before she does anything but instead she ignored the comment. Thankfully. Or else I would have gotten a huge red hand mark on my arm. I inhaled deeply, letting all the rich scent of ice cream fill my lungs. "Ahh... home sweet ice cream home. Heehee! Hey, look here missy, if I can take the heat in the Philippines, Im sure I can take the heat during the summer." I winked at her direction. At the corner of my eye, I saw something. I yanked Kaylee back and whispered "Oh.Em.Gee. Look at him. Isn't he yummy." One thing you'll have to learn to understand, is that whether a girl is single or not, when she's with her best friend, they will tend to check out other guys. Not like guys can say anything against that... We all know they do the same thing when they're with their friends. My eyes widened. Shit. I can't believe I said something like that, even after I just broke up with my ex fiancee. Oh well I guess. No point in dwelling in the past.

Having just entered the shop, Kisuke stood at the counter, talking quietly to the clerk, who nodded and started to get his order ready while Kisuke leaned against the counter. He was a young man, slightly on the short side as he was only 5'7, with a lean build, though a slight definition of muscle could be seen underneath the white sleeveless shirt that he wore under a light-blue front-button shirt that had been left unbuttoned, held closed only by the navy-blue necktie he wore. His hair, which was grayish-white, was fairly short, though long enough that his bangs covered one eye, leaving his other, which was ice-blue uncovered, as he looked around the small shop with a cold gaze. The only other really distinguishing feature about him was the brown-beaded bracelet he wore around his right wrist, which seemed out of place.

Breaking out of his reverie, Kisuke looked up, seeing the clerk setting his order in front of him. With a nod of thanks, Kisuke payed, and picked up the two small bowls of chocolate ice cream, taking them over to a small table for two, placing one bowl across from himself "here you go, your favorite." He said, his voice soft-spoken, before starting in on his own dessert, taking small bites as he sat in silence.

Kaylee's emerald eyes followed to where Brooke was now staring,
and she nodded in agreement. "Oooh, yeah. He's a cutie," she smiled, quickly looking him over and
taking in his features. "Kinda short, but at least he's taller than Pryce," she teased, then stuck
her tongue out at her friend.

"But look, he's ordering two ice creams," she pointed out, and they both watched as he sat down
at a table and placed the extra ice cream facing him. "He must be waiting for his girlfriend or
something. What a bummer."

	I gave Kaylee a pout. She never really liked Pryce to begin with, and Pryce doesn't really like her much either. I had to admit I was pretty torn when I first found out that they didn't exactly get along. "He's not -THAT- much taller" Why do I still defend that asshole? I don't know. "Anyways, thats too bad. He was really cute. His bracelet is sort of off though, don't you think?" Us being us... Fashionistas, we would notice the smallest things about other's outfits. "Should we come up to him anyway? or Should we let him notice us?" I say, a mischievous smile forming on my face.

Finishing his ice cream, Kisuke looked at the empty seat across from him before placing his hands together in prayer, closing his visible eye. After a moment, he unclasped his hands and stood up, picking up his empty bowl and the melting untouched bowl, throwing them away. "I'll be back next year." He said quietly, brushing his fingers over the top of the empty seat before looking around once, then cracking his neck before he nonchalantly started to head for the door.

Kaylee eyes followed the stranger as he bowed his
head in prayer, throwing made the extra ice cream away and heading towards the door.
So the treat wasn't for his girlfriend after all. It was for someone who had passed
away...

The thought caused a pang of sorrow that immediately brought a layer of blurry tears
to Kaylee's eyes, and she blinked them away before Brooke noticed. She knew exactly
how it felt to lose someone dear to you, someone you loved more then anything--how
horrible a feeling it was. Shaking herself from her thoughts she gave her friend a quick
shove. It was gentle, but strong enough to cause her to lose her balance and end up
stumbling right into the boy as he passed a couple feet away from them.

"You're welcome," she smirked, waiting as the perfect scene quickly began to
unravel.

	As the boy passed me, Kaylee, that crazy kid, pushed me and of course, the whole corny scene began. "Oh! I'm so sorry!" Man I hate Kaylee for this. I'm gonna get her later when she doesn't see it coming. For now I'm just going to lay low. I looked at the guy I bumped into and suddenly I felt my face getting hot. Damn it. I knew I should have gotten a tan. Now it'd be obvious that I'm blushing. His eyes met mine- God, they were beautiful- so its not like I can help it! I gave him an apologetic smile and I looked back to Kaylee to glare at her and at the same time begging for help, but the poo face was giving the lady our orders. I look back at him "Eheh.." Awwwwkkkwaaaaaarrrddddddd!!!

Kisuke instinctivly reached out to grab Brooke by the shoulders as she knocked into him, making sure that she didn't fall and hurt herself. "Are you alright?" He asked, his voice as soft and smooth as freshly spun silk, carrying a slight southern accent to it. "I must apologize, I'm afraid that I was lost in thought, and not paying attention to where I was going." Seeing the blush that was spreading across her face, his gaze grew a little concerned. "Are you ok miss?" He asked.

	"Y-Yeah! I'm fine! Thanks for breaking my fall. Someone sort of bumped into me." She shot a glare at Kaylee who just stuck her tongue out at me. I fixed myself, retaining composure, and held out my hand at him and smiled. "Hi, my name is Brooke~" Wow. Really? My voice sounds super peppy when I introduced myself. Can I be even more of a DORK right now?!
